Primitivo at its finest. Wines made from this grape are usually intense and wonderfully fruity. The Lifili Primitivo Salento from the A6mani winery is a beautiful example of a superb Primitivo as we like it best. The three cousins, Elise Clerfeuille, Francesca, and Maria Cavallo, produce this top-quality Primitivo in the hot region of Apulia in southern Italy.

Three women, one passion

The name A6mani literally means "to the six hands." It represents the three cousins who have realized their dream together with the hope of opening their own winery in the village of Fragagnano. Here, they produce wines with love and passion from the region's typical indigenous grape varieties. Apulia is one of Italy's most beautiful wine regions and is characterized by a dry and hot climate. Yields therefore remain low, and viticulture can occasionally be challenging. But the two grape varieties, Primitivo and Negroamaro, the three women's favorites, prove to thrive in this climate. In Puglia, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on clay and limestone soils. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are taken directly to the winery. Here, they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by several months of aging on the fine lees before the wine is finally bottled.

What does the A6mani Lifili Primitivo Salento taste like?

This Primitivo impresses with a beautiful, intense red color and a velvety texture. The fruity aromas leap from the glass, with distinctly dark berries at the forefront. The fruit is complemented by aromas of spice, tobacco, licorice, and light notes of vanilla. The palate is round and supple with impressive length. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the soil, which is dominated by limestone and clay. A delicious pairing with Italian pasta or a cheese board.
