This Reserva Rioja is composed of 86 percent Tempranillo, 8 percent Garnache, and 6 percent Graciano. The vines are at least 30 years old.

An ambitious and unprecedented adventure

In the 1980s, a new generation innovated the wine industry. In the form of Mario Rotllant and Carmen Daurella, they arrived in La Rioja with the firm intention of creating a project capable of bringing something new to the world of winemaking. This is where an ambitious, powerful, and unprecedented adventure began: Bodegas Roda. The winery is situated on the banks of the Ebro River. The winegrowers used it to store their harvests, which would then be shipped by train to Bordeaux to mitigate the damage caused by phylloxera. Today, the winery is known for its high-quality red wines. As with all wines from the Roda estate, the grapes are harvested by hand. They then undergo rigorous selection to ensure the finest juice. They then undergo alcoholic fermentation in French oak barrels at a controlled temperature, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. The wine then matures for fourteen months in French oak barrels, forty percent of which are new and sixty percent second-hand. Finally, the Reserva matures in bottle for another thirty months before it's ready to drink. Because, well, good quality requires patience.

A fragrance that promises much

And finally, we have a beautiful red wine, with a very complex aroma, but one that promises a lot. Lots of dark fruit, vanilla, and a hint of pepper. The powerful flavor offers many notes of vanilla, spices, pepper, and black fruit, with plenty of blackberry. The finish is absolutely fantastic, a truly wonderful glass!
