Ramon Bilbao is a historic winery founded in 1924 by Ramon Bilbao Murga, an experienced wine merchant who had long sold quality wines. He was a true pioneer who knew how to ripen grapes sublimely. The climate is typically warmer than in Rioja Alta, yet the high altitude in Rioja Baja ensures cooler nights, allowing the grapes to develop good acidity. The grapes are carefully harvested and selected, because only the finest juice is good enough for Ramon Bilbao wines. Vinification begins with maceration before fermentation, which preserves the floral aromas and color. Fermentation takes place in concrete at a controlled temperature of 24 degrees Celsius. Finally, the wine is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels.
