The different origins provide this cuvée with a broad foundation.
- Location / origin: Selected vineyards in Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa, and Rioja Oriental, within the North Spanish DOCa Rioja.
- Soil: The selection includes loam and river deposits from Rioja Oriental, clay soils from Rioja Alavesa, and soils with clay and sand from Rioja Alta.
The harvests from the different sub-regions are processed separately.
- Fermentation: Both alcoholic fermentation and malolactic conversion take place in stainless steel tanks. During this second step, sharp malic acids are converted into softer lactic acids.
- Wood aging: The wine matures for 14 months in American oak barrels that are being used for the second or third time. This provides a controlled wood influence alongside the fruit.
One grape variety forms the basis of this Rioja.
- 100% Tempranillo – Rioja: Provides ripe berry fruit and a fine tannin structure, which pairs well with the wood aging.
