The 2019 vintage in Rioja has received an 'Excellent' rating with a score of 95 points. The wines from this vintage are early drinking and already very accessible.

Valenciso Reserva is a red wine from the Rioja region, developed by the Valenciso winery. The winery is located in Ollauri, a town north of La Rioja Alta. Valenciso Reserva is made entirely from Tempranillo grapes, grown on 20 hectares of vineyards in La Rioja Alta. The vineyards are cultivated using sustainable agriculture, which respects the environment and minimizes the impact on the landscape. Furthermore, the vineyards have a low yield of 5,000 kg/ha and are planted on clay-limestone soils.

The unique character of Valenciso wines

At the Valenciso winery, they prioritize quality over quantity. This unique bodega initially had a single goal: to produce a single wine from Tempranillo and then release an excellent Reserva. They chose to age the wine for extended periods to develop its unique character. The winemakers have over 25 years of experience in La Rioja. In 1998, they revived an old winery and named it Valenciso. The vineyards and winery are located in Ollauri, four kilometers from Haro in the northern part of La Rioja Alta. Here, a unique climate prevails, with Atlantic influences and Mediterranean heat. The vineyards are situated on clay-limestone terroir, ideal for grape cultivation. Valenciso Reserva Rioja is a very fine, classic red wine. It is still made using traditional methods, with alcoholic and malolactic fermentation taking place in concrete vats. After this, the wine is aged for 17 months in lightly toasted oak. A third of the barrels are new, and the remaining barrels are no older than three years.

The full and powerful taste of Reserva Rioja

This red wine has a deep cherry color. The aroma is elegant yet distinctly Rioja! Beautiful aromas of blackcurrant, raspberry, and cherry, with a delicate touch of roasted coffee and fine spices. The palate is wonderfully full and powerful with soft tannins. Delicate nuances of black fruit, spices, and some earthy notes. The finish is powerful and very flavorful. A true pleasure!
