The 2019 vintage in Rioja was rated 95 points by Robert Parker, indicating excellent quality. The wines from this year are maturing relatively early and are already very approachable.

The prestigious title of "Best Red Wine of the Year" was awarded to the Ramon Bilbao Reserva at the Proefschrift Wijnconcours, a recognition we wholeheartedly endorse. This gem of a wine has undergone an impressive 20 months of aging in American oak barrels. But it doesn't stop there! This Reserva Rioja then underwent an intensive 30-month bottle aging in the cool cellars of Ramon Bilbao. With a total aging time of 50 months, the result is simply sublime, and every sip confirms its quality. Bodegas Ramón Bilbao, the winery behind this majestic Reserva, has been under the inspiring leadership of the internationally renowned Diego Zamora, the genius behind the popular Spanish liqueur "Licor 43," since 1999. This winery exudes passion and dedication, every single day, with an unwavering focus on the highest quality standards. It's no surprise, then, that some of Spain's most refined wines originate from Ramón Bilbao. The fertile vineyards in Haro offer a unique blend of diverse soil types, providing a rich palette of nutrients for the grapes.

The essential Tempranillo grapes for this red wine are carefully harvested from Fina Calpierre, located in the heart of Rioja Alta at an impressive 600-meter altitude. Towards the end of October, when the grapes are at their peak of perfection, only the very best bunches are painstakingly selected and harvested.
