A top wine from the Rioja region

LAN was founded 50 years ago in the heart of the Rioja region. The vision was clear: to make good wines at an excellent price. Well, they've more than achieved that. This red wine is a Gran Reserva, a legal designation. This means the wine must age for at least 60 months, including at least 18 months in oak. These are minimum requirements, however: the better wineries, including Bodegas LAN, choose to age their wines longer to achieve the perfect quality. For example, LAN Rioja Gran Reserva only leaves the cellars after 24 months of aging in American oak and 36 months in the bottle. Bottles may only leave the cellars with the explicit permission of the cellar master.

Enticing. You'll want to keep sniffing. Expressive nuances like vanilla and a hint of cedarwood betray the long aging process. Elegance reigns supreme as you take a sip. Complex and robust, almost meaty. Red fruit, vanilla, and spices form the foundation of the palate. But hints of tobacco and cedarwood are also easily detectable.
