Description
In 2000, Roman Niewodniczanski took over the Van Volxem family business. He rebuilt the renowned winery in Wiltingen on the Saar. He discovered the Wiltinger Braunfels plot beneath the famous Scharzhofberg, with its lean brown slate soils and vines over 30 years old. Together with cellar master Dominik Völk, he developed a Riesling with a truly unique character. This Wiltinger Riesling beautifully reflects the Saarland terroir. This glass of wine rewards you with a delightful aroma and a seductive minerality.
The vinification of Van Volxem Wiltinger Riesling
Van Volxem's wines are impressive in their own right and are among the best in the Saar and Germany. The estate is located in the historic center of Wiltingen. Originally a monastery estate, it owned large parcels of vineyards in the 18th century. The average age of the vines is 40 years, with some exceeding 100 years old. The winery has been in the Van Volxem family for four generations but was taken over by Roman Niewodniczanski in 2000. The grapes benefit from gray slate soils, developing unique characteristics as a result. They are harvested entirely by hand at peak ripeness. The grapes are rigorously selected in the winery, followed by fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for six to seven months in stainless steel tanks.Enjoy a balanced Riesling from Van Volxem
This golden-yellow wine with greenish reflections boasts a bouquet of earthy aromas with notes of blueberry, stone fruit, juniper, sloe, and a hint of acacia. On the palate, the Van Volxem Wiltlinger Riesling is juicy and refined. A very balanced, crisp, and tangy Riesling from the Saar region. The silky-smooth structure of the Wiltlinger Riesling continues into a long, impressive finish. Thanks to its consistent minerality, this Van Volxem Wiltlinger Riesling pairs perfectly with many dishes. It also makes a very enjoyable wine on its own!Product details
