Production is handled by the prestigious Orange River Cellars winery. This winery is located in the enchanting Orange River wine region in northwestern South Africa. With a history dating back to 1965, this winery has built an impressive legacy. Situated in a region renowned for its exquisite terroir and perfect climatic conditions, Orange River Cellars is a beacon of winemaking. The vineyards of Orange River Cellars enjoy abundant sunlight, the cooling influences of the nearby Orange River, and fertile soils that contribute to the growth of high-quality grapes. This results in wines imbued with the essence of their unique environment. The Pinotage grapes are harvested by hand in the early morning at optimum ripeness. As soon as the grapes enter the cement tanks, the process of color and aroma extraction from the skins begins. This is achieved by regularly immersing the skins by hand. After a period of 5 to 7 days of pumping over and fermentation, the skins are gently pressed to separate the wine from the solids, ensuring that no bitter tannins are extracted. The wine is then transferred to American oak barrels, where it ages for an impressive 16 to 18 months. During this aging period, the wine further develops and refines, while the oak adds subtle nuances to its character.
