This approach results in a new creation every time. Lomond is located in the small town of Gansbaai in the Western Cape of South Africa. The Pinotage grapes come from a beautiful vineyard in Stellenbosch. This is where winemaker Hannes Mayers has been harvesting the finest grapes in recent years. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and refrigerated overnight to preserve their freshness. After harvesting, the grapes are taken almost immediately to the winery, where they undergo a rigorous selection process. This ensures that only the finest grapes are selected for the gentle pressing. Traditional vinification then follows.
The result is a vibrant red wine that glows rhubarb in the glass. The lively aromas of sweet cherry and strawberry jam greet you. The palate is equally vibrant, with plenty of fruit like cherries and plums. This is complemented by light notes of cinnamon, creating a beautiful balance. A concentrated wine with plenty of structure and a juicy finish.
