Description
The very latest wine from Cantine Menhir, and not just any red wine, made from the rediscovered indigenous grape variety Susumaniello. This grape had long been unavailable in Puglia until a small patch of this sunny grape was discovered. All Italians in Puglia were delighted with the discovery, and it proved a golden opportunity, as Susumaniello red wines are full-bodied and very smooth. Cantine Menhir has a vineyard in a truly unique location filled with these golden bunches, enjoying ample sunshine and cool sea breezes. This creates a perfect climate for a red wine with great finesse, something Luca Maroni also noted, and included this wine in the yearbook of the best Italian wines.
Completely hand-harvested for this Pietra Susumaniello
The Susumaniello grapes for this Pietra are hand-harvested and rigorously selected to ensure only the finest bunches are pressed. The wine has developed a warm heart, and that's reflected in the aroma, which reveals abundant red berries, blueberries, toffee, and spices like black pepper and coriander. The palate of this red Pietra is enchanting, a true Italian gift with a round and smooth flavor. Beautiful notes of ripe black fruit, a touch of coffee grounds, toffee, currants, and a hint of sweet spices like cinnamon. What a hero of a wine, and we're thrilled that the Susumaniello grape has been rediscovered.Product details
