Vintage Report

Just thinking about the name Pauillac makes our mouths water. This municipality has only 5,000 inhabitants, but it's arguably the largest wine-producing city in the world. It was here that the Mouton Rothschild winery was founded in 1853. The name Rothschild has been inextricably linked to wine for a century and a half. The grandfather of pioneer Baron Philippe de Rothschild founded the winery. Philippe himself began producing the widely available Mouton Cadet wines in 1930. He initially started from Pauillac, but he continued to innovate. Today, they have beautiful vineyards in many locations, both in France and abroad.

The vineyards of Mouton Cadet Reserve Pauillac

Mouton Cadet Reserve Pauillac is made from grapes sourced from the finest soils in the commune of Pauillac. This commune has its own appellation in the Médoc, the most enchanting part of Bordeaux. Nestled between Saint-Estephe and Saint-Julien, it finds itself in excellent company. With this Mouton Cadet Reserve Pauillac, Baron Philippe de Rothschild wanted to pay tribute to his grandfather. Well, wine connoisseurs are unanimous: he more than succeeded. This red wine from Mouton Cadet is a classic, one we still fall in love with today.

Impressions of Mouton Cadet Reserve Pauillac

The three classic grape varieties—Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot—work beautifully in Mouton Cadet Reserve Pauillac. These three grape varieties make an excellent team, not only in Pauillac, but throughout Bordeaux. As soon as you pour Mouton Cadet Reserve Pauillac into your glass, the enjoyment begins. Our oenologists look forward to that moment every year: when they can dip their noses into the new vintage of Mouton Cadet. The oak aging is clearly discernible. You'll clearly recognize robust notes of leather and tobacco. A fruity touch of blackberry and blackcurrant. A hint of oak tickles your nose. The taste is exactly what you'd expect from a Pauillac: complex, robust, and powerful. Beautiful, delicate notes tantalize your taste buds. This wine is exactly what Baron Philippe de Rothschild envisioned.
