Stolen Bicycle Red

This Portuguese wine holds a special place in the hearts of Dutch wine drinkers. Its history has a red, white, and blue glow. The producer of this Portuguese wine is Niepoort, originally a Port house. This Port house was founded in 1842 by Eduard Kebe. ​​Shortly after, he received help from his business partner Dirk van Niepoort. For years, they were a leader in port wines. Starting in the 1990s, they also produced "regular" wines. The Gestolen Fiets Rood (Stolen Bicycle Red) is one of the results.

With Gestolen Fiets Rood (Stolen Bike Red), Niepoort wanted to bring wine drinkers closer to the product. Peter van Straaten designed the label for this red wine. The vineyards for Gestolen Fiets Rood are located in the Douro Valley. Niepoort has secured the finest vineyards for the production of its red wine. Gestolen Fiets Rood is a blend of various typical Portuguese grape varieties. Tinta Barocca, Tinta Cao, and Touruiga Nacional, among others, play a significant role in this red wine from Portugal.

The red wine gains the necessary power because approximately 20% of the wine is lightly aged in oak barrels. This is immediately noticeable in the aroma and taste.
