Italy is, of course, known for its top wines like Amarone, which every wine lover appreciates. But if you ask us, there's a new king in town, because this Feudo Arancio Passiari is a wine made using the same techniques as Amarone. The winemakers at Mezzacorona have a unique way of allowing the grapes to ripen optimally in their beautiful vineyards. And this Feudo Arancio Passiari is certainly unique.

Dried grapes for this Feudo Arancio Passiari

For this Feudo Arancio Passiari wine, the Syrah grape was chosen, supplemented to a small extent by Nero d'Avola. This combination proved unique, and the grape varieties complement each other perfectly in this red wine. After the Nero d'Avola is harvested by hand, the bunches are laid out in beds. Yes, you read that right, the grapes are laid to rest in so-called drying houses. This technique is also used in Amarone wines. The bunches lose a significant portion of their moisture, and the total drying time is a full sixty days. The juice that remains in the bunches is highly concentrated, resulting in unique wines.

Wood bearing for the Feudo Arancio Passiari

The Syrah grapes are also pressed, and half of them are aged in oak barrels for eight months. The Syrah grape will soon impart the strength and ripeness of this Fuedo wine. The grapes come together, creating a kind of golden marriage; everything falls into place. This begins with the pouring of this red Feudo Arancio Passiari, revealing a deep red color with a purple sheen. Nosing the wine, this red wine reveals notes of ripe cherries, blackberries, plums, and, of course, tobacco, dark cocoa, and sweet spices. The aroma is so captivating, we're on the edge of our seats. On the palate, this Passiari warms the tongue with soft fruity notes of blackberries, plums, and cherries. Later, notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, and cedarwood emerge. The beautifully ripe tannins of the Syrah grape provide ample body and structure, which is why it has captured our hearts.
