The Syrah grape rules here with an iron fist, as most red wines are made with this grape. Hermitage wines are known for their deep aromas and complex flavors. They also have enormous aging potential, and Guigal Hermitage Rouge is certainly no exception. Properly stored, this wine can age for decades. This allows it to develop into a delicate, irresistible glass of wine.

The best Guigal wine from the Hermitage

Guigal Winery is a prestigious family-owned winery in the Rhône Valley, founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal. It produces wine in various denominations in the north and south of the region and has been awarded 100 Parker points for several of its wines. The winery has 140 hectares of vineyards and has also been making its own barrels since 2003. The vineyards for this Hermitage have an average age of 35 years and are planted on soils consisting of clay loam and sandy gravel. A continental climate predominates in the area. The plots are harvested by hand and have an average yield of 40 hectoliters per hectare.

Guigal Hermitage Rouge is a powerhouse, made entirely from Syrah grapes. These grapes grow on the finest slopes Hermitage has to offer, perfectly oriented to the sun. After a hand harvest and strict selection (only the best is good enough for Hermitage), it ages for a full 36 months in Guigal's cellars. Here, it develops its characteristic character. Guigal Hermitage is a delight for the senses. Your nose is captivated by the spicy notes, a characteristic of Syrah. Red berries and soft red fruit are also present on the nose. The palate is phenomenal, powerful, and unforgettable. What a fantastic wine! The tannins are heavy, almost rustic. Ripe blackberries, vanilla, licorice, and intense spice.
