Domaine de la Janasse is one of the most renowned wineries in the southern Rhône. Its red wines are often considered the best in the southern Rhône in the trade press, and that's no coincidence: old vines, some over 100 years old, organic vineyard management, small yields, spontaneous fermentation in the cellar, aging exclusively in large old wooden barrels, and bottling after the moon phase without filtration—what sounds like a blueprint for great red wines, indeed, produces spectacular results in the bottles of this exceptional winemaker. The Janasse Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée Chaupin was harvested by hand in early October. The grapes undergo a rigorous selection process for this wine. After maceration, alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak barrels. This young red wine from France is then aged in oak barrels for another ten to twelve months.
