About the winery
Damilano is one of the historic Barolo houses. Its roots go back to 1890, when Giuseppe Borgogno started it; in 1935, son-in-law Giacomo Damilano took over and continued the pursuit of quality. Today, grandsons Paolo, Mario and Guido lead the company. Within the Barolo portfolio, Lecinquevigne positions itself as the classic Barolo, alongside the crus from, among others, Cannubi, Brunate, Cerequio, Liste and Raviole.
Vintage 2021
For Barolo, 2021 is considered an exceptionally good year with powerful, still youthful tannins and a slower ripening pace. This characterizes wines with a lot of structure and depth, made for development in the cellar, but which can already present beautifully with some time to breathe in a decanter.
Wine-food pairing advice
Classic pairings for this Barolo include braised beef or veal shanks, game dishes, and mushroom dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. This vintage has the structure to effortlessly support rich, slow-cooked dishes.
