Château Yveline 2020 is a classic red Bordeaux from Lalande-de-Pomerol, produced on a small 3-hectare estate in Néac. The wine comes from the eastern part of the appellation, adjacent to the famous Pomerol and Saint-Émilion areas, clearly placing it within the Right Bank style of Bordeaux. Under the guidance of Christian Durand, Château Yveline focuses on traditional Bordeaux winemaking with modern, precise grape selection.
Lalande-de-Pomerol is located in the Libournais, the part of Bordeaux where roundness, suppleness, and earthy depth often play an important role.
• Location / Origin: Château Yveline is located in Néac, in the eastern part of Lalande-de-Pomerol. The estate borders the Pomerol and Saint-Émilion appellations, two of the most renowned origins on Bordeaux's Right Bank.
• Estate Size: The château has 3 hectares of vineyard. This small scale gives Château Yveline the character of a boutique estate, with great attention to selection and detail.
• Soil: The Merlot is planted on clay-rich soils. Clay retains moisture and helps this grape develop ripeness, fleshiness, and elegance.
• Appellation: What is Lalande-de-Pomerol? Lalande-de-Pomerol is a Bordeaux appellation adjacent to Pomerol, known for red wines with round fruit, soft structure, and earthy development towards truffle with aging.
Château Yveline 2020 is made from the classic grapes of Bordeaux's Right Bank.
• 90% Merlot – Lalande-de-Pomerol: Merlot forms the base of this wine, providing roundness, suppleness, fleshiness, and elegant power.
• 10% Cabernet Franc – Lalande-de-Pomerol: Cabernet Franc complements the blend with additional structure, body, and aromatic tension.
The wine is made traditionally, with an emphasis on manual selection and careful processing of the grapes.
• Harvest & Selection: The grapes are harvested by hand and selected twice: first in the vineyard and then again in the cellar on a sorting table. This ensures that only ripe and healthy fruit goes into fermentation.
• Fermentation: Vinification occurs in the classic Bordeaux style in a combination of stainless steel and concrete vats. Stainless steel helps keep the fruit pure, while concrete contributes to a calm, balanced development of the wine.
