Vintage Report
The 2021 vintage in the Southern Rhône is characterized by excellent quality with a score of 94 points. The wines from this year are early maturing and approachable, making them ideally suited for early consumption.
An elegant and vibrant wine from Château Val Joanis. It's one of the signature wines Val Joanis produces in the south of France. Expect warm aromas with a round mouthfeel. Everything comes together in this wine, and with six months of oak aging, it's also a bit more powerful.
Vineyards in the mountainous Luberon
In the mountainous Luberon region, Château Val Joanis boasts beautiful vineyards. The vineyards are situated on clayey limestone, which gives the wines a unique character. The grapes enjoy warm days and cool nights, which is very beneficial for the aging process. This gives this red wine a powerful, elegant character with abundant fruit. It's often questioned whether Luberon belongs to the Rhône or Provence. It's located 20 kilometers north of Aix-en-Provence, but the area officially belongs to the southern Rhône. Either way, you can expect influences from both. The wine is vinified traditionally. When the Syrah and Grenache grapes are ripe enough, they are carefully harvested. A strict selection process follows in the winery, leaving only the finest grapes. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks with a 10-day maceration period. This process is all done at a controlled temperature. After fermentation, thirty percent of the wine is aged in French oak barrels for six months.Tasty notes of Chateau Val Joanis Luberon Red
The result is this ruby-red Luberon wine. As soon as the wine is poured, you can savor the aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and soft herbs. The palate is round with abundant fruity notes of blackcurrant and redcurrant. These are accompanied by flavorful spicy notes. This makes this wine an excellent accompaniment to meat dishes.Product details
