Vintage Report
For the 2023 vintage in New Zealand, insufficient data is yet available for a definitive assessment by Robert Parker. The wines from this region and vintage have not yet been tested extensively enough (NT).
Bishop's Leap Pinot Noir, what a gem! This red wine comes from the prestigious Bishop's Leap winery. While they are primarily known for their beautiful Sauvignon Blanc wines, they also produce a very delicate Pinot Noir. They also make wonderful, full-bodied Chardonnays that are unfortunately less well-known. Bishop's Leap takes its name from an ancient legend. A zealous preaching bishop was pursued by the indigenous Maori tribe until he fell off a steep cliff into the raging Wairau River. As a kind of tribute to this bishop, this delicious wine is called Saint Clair. The entire story is depicted on the label of this red wine.
Pinot Noir from Marlborough
The grapes come from New Zealand's most famous wine region, Marlborough. It is particularly known for its highly accessible style of wines. The climate is excellent for grape growing, with a maritime climate that lends the wines unique aromas. The warm daytime alternates with cool nights, which is conducive to ripening. The grapes are all hand-picked in the cool of the evening. This gives this wine its uniquely beautiful flavors. It's also worth mentioning that this Pinot Noir is partially aged in French oak barrels. What does Bishops Leap Pinot Noir taste like?
The aroma of this red Bishop's Leap reveals aromas of cherries and ripe red fruit with a hint of oak. The palate is a light, soft, and round Pinot Noir. Well-balanced acidity. A lingering flavor of black cherries and red berries is supported by a hint of plum and minerality. A touch of vanilla on the back of the tongue completes this red wine. Pinot Noir is known for being enjoyed slightly chilled. Only then will all the flavors truly come together.Product details
