Description
Bedoba Saperavi Magnum 2022 Kakheti, Georgia
Bedoba Saperavi Magnum 2022 is a powerful red wine from Kakheti, the historic heart of Georgian winemaking, bottled in an impressive 1.5-liter Magnum. What kind of grape is Saperavi? It's an indigenous Georgian teinturier, a red-fleshed grape that naturally produces deep color and a firm structure. Produced on an estate whose cellars date back to 1533, where traditional Kakhetian wines have been made for centuries, this wine combines age-old tradition with modern precision.
Vineyards and region
The wine comes from Georgia, from Kakheti, north of the Alazani River at about 400 m altitude.
-
Location: Kakheti, Georgia's most famous wine region, with warm days and cooling influences from the mountains and rivers.
-
Soil: Black slate with a high concentration of carbonates, which contributes to structure and depth.
-
Sticks: Over 30 years old and processed using sustainable and organic techniques.
The combination of altitude, old vines and pronounced soils gives this Magnum extra cellaring potential and complexity.
Vinification and maturation
The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures.
-
Fermentation: Temperature-controlled in stainless steel to preserve fruit purity.
-
Maturation: Part of the wine is matured in oak barrels, the other part undergoes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel for a balance between power and freshness.
-
Bottle aging: After bottling, the wine matures for a further 12 months in the bottle for extra harmony.
In Magnum format the wine develops more slowly and evenly, which provides additional refinement with further aging.
