Vintage Report
The 2021 vintage in South Australia delivered excellent results and was rated 93 points by Robert Parker. The wines from this year are approachable young and very accessible.
Barramundi Shiraz Petit Verdot is the most concentrated wine in the Barramundi portfolio. This deep red wine is a blend of 75 percent Shiraz and 25 percent Petit Verdot grapes. Both grape varieties complement each other beautifully, creating a delicious wine that's hard to resist.
The beginning of Barramundi winery
Barramundi comes from the Murray Darling Region in Victoria, where two of Australia's largest rivers meet. This means the vineyards are constantly supplied with water, which is a good thing, as there's hardly any rain during the growing season! It's a distinctive wine brand that stands for no-nonsense wines. "Don't make life too difficult" is a motto at this winery. The wines were first released in Australia in 1990 with uniquely illustrated labels by an iconic Aussie artist. Two years later, the United Kingdom followed. The winery continues to grow and produce more and more wines. Their real success comes from these cool, laid-back hippie labels featuring the Barramundi van. Behind the wheel is the cool Aussie dog Barry, his sights set on infinity. After the night harvest, the Shiraz and Petit Verdot are pressed separately. Controlled fermentation takes place for ten days at 24°C, ultimately reaching 20°C. The skins that float to the surface are immersed six times a day, reducing to just twice a day towards the end of fermentation. After this, this Barramundi Shiraz Petit Verdot is aged for six months in new American oak. All this with a magnificent final result. The aromas and taste of the Barramundi Shiraz Petit Verdot
This Australian blend smells wonderfully of dark forest fruit, black cherries, cloves, and violets. There are also notes of cigar, leather, and a lovely spice. This accessible red wine from Australia is full-bodied and juicy on the palate. Delicious with wild duck, grilled quail, walnut salad, and chicken.Product details
