The old, thick vines are planted in Lodi, where the grapes receive plenty of sunshine, allowing them to develop a high sugar content. They also receive cool winds, allowing for a slow and steady harvest. Once the grapes have reached full ripeness, they are harvested separately and transported in small crates to the 1924 winery.
