From vineyard to bottle

The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

The enchanting Caldora winery is located in Abruzzo. While this winery boasts a whopping twelve hundred hectares of vineyards, only two hundred hectares are used for Caldora wines. Only the finest grapes are selected for the Caldora series. We're dealing with the very best line of this ultra-modern winery, and we clearly see that. Before we can enjoy these beautiful wines, a tremendous amount of work has to be done in the vineyards and the winery.

This Montepulciano d'Abruzzo uses the exquisite Montepulciano grapes. The vines are grown in the finest vineyards of Caldora. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of up to three thousand meters above sea level, providing the grapes with sufficient coolness. This freshness is essential, as otherwise the Montepulciano grapes would ripen too quickly. This cooling ensures a consistent growing season. The abundant sunshine infuses the grapes with high sugar levels, resulting in a soft and elegant flavor. Once the winemaker is satisfied with the grapes' ripeness, they are harvested at night. The entire harvest is done manually, after which the grapes are placed on sorting tables for pressing, and only the finest bunches are selected to nourish the wine. The entire wine is fermented for ten days to enhance the final result. The result is certainly impressive: a truly magnificent red wine.

The moment we pour it, our hearts instantly race. The beautiful, deep ruby red color already conveys its richness. The aroma reveals a magnificent palette of red and black fruit and a touch of spice. The finish is a delicate, sweet swirl of blackberry jam. This wine boasts excellent value for money. We agree, and it's no wonder this Caldora Montepulciano d'Abruzzo has been a top seller for years. The palate is intense, full of notes of red fruit and beautifully refined, light spices. The finish is intense, long, and silky smooth.
