Although the winery initially consisted of a patchwork of both viticulture and conventional agriculture, the craftsmanship was always present. It was founded by Karl Steininger, who, modest as he was, named the winery after himself. The major breakthrough came when the winery was taken over by the next generation: Karl and Birgitta. From then on, Weingut Steininger climbed to the top of the podium and has never looked back.

Austria is a small wine country. Karl and Birgitta were well aware of this. They realized that survival in the Austrian wine market was only possible with sky-high quality. This was their commitment from the very beginning. And their dedication paid off. Steininger's Austrian wines are still considered among the best from this Alpine country. In the late 1980s, another milestone followed: the birth of Steininger sparkling wine. To this day, Steininger Gruner Veltliner Sekt Kamptal creates a wonderful atmosphere during many a toast.

This white wine perfectly showcases all the aspects of Gruner Veltliner.

An impossible question, if you ask us vinologists. Do we choose Zweigelt, the blue hero of Steininger's vineyards, or stick with the trusted Gruner Veltliner? After many meetings, we were finally able to choose a wine that, in our opinion, is the best. If only for the beautiful growing area, namely Kittmannsberg. Here, the magnificent vines of Gruner Veltliner are situated, allowing them to optimally enjoy the sun. The wine has been carefully crafted and delivers a fresh and powerful palate. For this very reason, Steininger Gruner Veltliner Kittmannsberg Reserve is one of our personal favorites.
