This appellation is located in the Taranto region, part of Puglia, around the famous town of Manduria. Primitivo di Manduria is best known for its powerful, dry red wines. Harvest takes place incredibly late, in the first half of October. This allows the grapes to overripe, developing the sweet character of 11 Filari from San Marzano. After the harvest, and the rigorous selection process, the grapes are fermented. This Italian wine then matures for an impressive 12 months in French and American oak barrels in the San Marzano cellars. This oak aging, in part, makes this stunning San Marzano wine truly special and delicious!
