Vintage Report
The 2017 vintage in Brunello di Montalcino received a score of 88 from Robert Parker, indicating a vintage that is accessible and drinkable early. The wines from this harvest are characterized by faster maturation compared to the most prestigious top vintages.
The finest selection of Sangiovese grapes has been used to create Colombaiolo Brunello di Montalcino Riserva. To create this Brunello Riserva, the oenologist selects grapes from the most noble vineyards, followed by a classic vinification process. The wine is then aged for four years in large Slavonian oak barrels to enhance the wine's innate structure and achieve the incredible aging potential for which Brunello di Montalcino is renowned.
The beautiful hills of Casisano
Casisano is nestled in the beautiful hills surrounding Montalcino: here, the Tommasi family, who have always loved the Tuscan terroir, decided to continue their winemaking adventure and dedicate themselves to producing superb red wines from Sangiovese grapes. The "Colombaiolo," Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG, stands out, especially, with grapes sourced from the finest cru of the entire estate: an elegant and harmonious product with excellent aging potential for years to come. The grapes ferment in wooden barrels at a controlled temperature between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius, macerating for approximately 20-25 days. Then, the wine is refined, first in Slavonian oak barrels of varying capacities for four years, and then in the bottle for another six months. Meticulous production produces a label whose exceptional quality is hand-crafted.A wine with great personality
The Colombaiola Brunello Riserva has an intense ruby red color. It is a wine with great personality, fine and elegant. It features the typical fruity notes of Sangiovese grapes, interwoven with the herbs resulting from aging in large Slavonian oak barrels. This red wine has a complex flavor, is smooth and velvety, with harmoniously mature and captivating tannins balanced by a beautiful acidity. Its elegance and harmonious body make it a perfect pairing with structured dishes featuring red meat and game. Perfect with aged and blue cheeses.Product details
