Vintage Report
This Cantine Menhir Albanegra is made with three local grape varieties: Primitivo, Aleatico, and Malvasia Nera. These three grape varieties feel completely at home in the heel of Italy's boot. The vines for this delicious red wine from Cantine Menhir are planted on poor clay soil. This soil is crucial for the wonderfully soft character of the Albanegra. Thanks to the warm climate, the grapes grow carefree, developing both a beautiful power and a pleasant fruitiness. By not aging this wine in oak barrels, the wonderful fruity character is preserved. The harvest for this red Cantine Menhir is done entirely by hand to eliminate any overripe or damaged bunches. Only the finest fruit is good enough for Cantine Menhir wines.
A wine with a soft character
In the heart of the medieval village of Minervino, we find Cantine Menhir. This fantastic winery was founded by three innovative entrepreneurs. They saw the potential of viticulture in this particular part of Italy. And that inspiration and conviction proved more than justified! Today, Cantine Menhir is one of the finest wineries in the heel of the boot in Italy and is known worldwide for its top wines. The name Cantine Menhir derives from the stone structures from the Stone Age. The stones used for these structures are also called menhirs.A gem of a red wine
The result of all the effort in the vineyards and the winery is certainly impressive. What a gem of a red wine this Cantine Menhir Albanegra is! The deep ruby color already suggests a lot. The aroma offers beautiful notes of licorice and laurel, interspersed with hints of figs and dark plums. The finish is wonderfully warm and rich. The palate is silky smooth, almost like a soft and warm duvet. The delicious flavor nuances of ripe red and black fruit are perfectly balanced with a hint of dried plums. The finish is soft and lively, and very pleasant.Product details
