Vintage Report

For the Piedmont region in 2022, the quality is considered very good with a score of 89. The wines show a good structure, although reports indicate they may still need time to reach their full potential.
In the Italian wine region of Piedmont, we find the Braida winery, a legacy of the King of Piedmont, Giacomo Bologna. The winery is located on the Tanaro River and is known to many wine lovers as the Barbera wines of Piedmont. Besides the red wines made from the Barbera grape, they also produce a number of white wines and sweet white wines, such as this Moscato d'Asti Vigna Senza Nome. "Braida" was the nickname given to Giacomo's father, Giuseppe Bologna, who had a professional handball career. The perseverance and strength that Giacomo learned from his father are still evident in Braida's wines.

The Moscato grapes from Mango d'Alba

For this light, sweet wine, the Moscato grapes are grown in the sunny part of the Mango d'Alba vineyards. This unique vineyard provides the bunches with ample sunshine, allowing them to ripen beautifully evenly. The label features the "Sator Square," a Latin phrase that can be read left to right, right to left, bottom to top, and top to bottom. "Sator arepo tenet opera rotas," it says, meaning "the farmer at the plow chooses the path." And that remains true for all Braida wines. This Moscato d'Asti Vigna Senza Nome is also made with complete respect for nature, and this is evident in the pure style.

The slightly sweet taste of this Braida Moscato d'Asti

When the Moscato grapes are ripe, they are harvested by hand to select only the finest bunches for this white Moscato d'Asti. After pressing, the grapes are cooled to a very low temperature of minus four degrees Celsius. This ensures a low alcohol content of only about five and a half percent. This maintains a balance between the beautiful acidity and the sweetness of the initial taste, and yes, that is truly beautifully crafted. Upon opening, we notice a slight tingle and the wine immediately reveals aromas of peach, apricot, and exotic fruit. In the glass, it turns golden yellow and reveals a beautiful, light bubble. With our noses over the glass, we smell powerful aromas of citrus, ripe peach, and a hint of melon. On the palate, the palate is treated to a slight tingle and reveals flavors of ripe yellow fruit with subtle notes of lime. The balance between light sweetness and freshness is perfect.
