Masseria Borgo Dei Trulli winery has maintained a fine reputation over the years. They produce their wines in unique terroirs and according to the many traditions of Puglia. And you can certainly taste this in their wines. They plant a wide range of grape varieties and can therefore produce diverse wines. They adhere to traditional winemaking methods but strive to combine them with modern techniques. The Primitivo grapes come from vineyards around the city of Lecce, where yields are kept low and the average vine age is between 15 and 25 years. At optimal ripeness, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand and taken directly to the winery. Destemming follows, during which the grapes are not crushed. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 23 to 25 degrees Celsius. After malolactic fermentation , the wine is transferred to stainless steel tanks where it rests for several months.
Anyone already familiar with this wine will undoubtedly immediately recall its deep ruby-red color. That's one of the things that makes this wine so special. Furthermore, after pouring, we can immediately enjoy aromas of cherries and plums mixed with spicy notes. The palate is full-bodied with ripe tannins and plenty of dark fruit. Here too, the spicy notes are clearly present. The lingering finish reveals soft yet firm tannins.
