Papale Primitivo Di Manduria Linea Oro is a full-bodied red wine with ripe berry fruit and a round, soft structure. At least 10 months of oak aging give this Varvaglione cuvée extra depth.
The name Papale is connected to the history of the location where the grapes are grown.
- Location / origin: Contrada Papale, in the Primitivo di Manduria production area in the province of Taranto, Puglia, Southern Italy.
- Historical location: The land in Contrada Papale once belonged to a Pope from Puglia. That connection lives on in the name of the wine.
Careful selection and long oak aging determine the structure of this wine.
- Harvest: The grapes are selected and hand-harvested into crates.
- Fermentation: During skin contact, the temperature is maintained at 26–28 °C. This extracts color, flavor, and tannins from the skins.
- Aging: After malolactic fermentation, in which sharp malic acids are converted into softer lactic acids, the wine undergoes at least 10 months of aging in French oak barrels and American oak barriques.
This cuvée showcases the full, ripe style of a single grape variety.
- 100% Primitivo – Manduria: Gives the wine its concentrated fruit, firm structure, and rich mouthfeel.
