Once the grapes have reached their full ripeness, they are harvested early in the morning. St. Kilian does this to protect the grapes from oxidation and to prevent damage to the bunches. These arrive at St. Kilian in crates and are then gently and immediately pressed. After pressing, this slightly sweet wine undergoes a long aging process in the St. Kilian cellars. The wine is allowed to develop and mature further, developing a unique and very smooth flavor.
We immediately sensed that this is a top-quality wine upon opening this bottle of St. Kilian Bereich Bernkastel. We immediately noted lovely notes of peach and sweet apples. As the wine is poured, all its aromas are released, revealing nuances of very ripe tropical fruit with just the right amount of honey and red apples. The taste is softly sweet with a rich, broad flavor, making this slightly sweet wine suitable for everyone.
