The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

The San Polo Rosso di Montalcino, hailing from the beautiful terroir of Montalcino, uniquely highlights the freshness and integrity of the Sangiovese grape. The intensity of this grape beautifully balances with the balanced power of this red wine. The winemakers at San Polo have dedicated themselves to creating a Rosso di Montalcino that not only reflects the unique characteristics of the terroir but also has its own character and expression. The freshness developed by the Sangiovese grape is captured in every sip, giving the wine a vibrancy and youthfulness.

While the world-famous Brunello di Montalcino often receives attention, the Rosso di Montalcino deserves just as much attention. This wine possesses a unique charm and exceptional character. Every bottle of San Polo Rosso di Montalcino meticulously reflects the dedication and expertise of the San Polo team. From the careful grape selection to the meticulous vinification process, every step is imbued with passion and craftsmanship. This results in a wine that not only reflects the tradition of Montalcino but also tells its own story, characterized by freshness, accessibility, and the unique signature of the San Polo winery. At the end of September, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand and transported to the winery in small crates. A rigorous selection process follows, leaving only the finest grapes. These are gently pressed, after which fermentation begins in concrete tanks. Afterward, the wine is transferred to large barrels where it ages for a full 12 months. The barrels are lightly toasted, allowing the wine to develop more character. Finally, the wine is aged in the bottle for several more months before release.

Pouring the San Polo Rosso di Montalcino, we're immediately struck by its beautiful ruby red color. The aromas leap from the glass; abundant red fruit, subtle spicy notes, and a hint of violet complement each other perfectly. A pleasant touch of vanilla adds a refined dimension to the aromatic bouquet, creating an intriguing layering. Upon tasting, the wine reveals a warm character, with a soft texture supported by a medium structure and balanced tannins. A pleasantly dry and harmonious wine. The finish is long and pleasant, with soft tannins that offer an inviting texture.
