Vintage Report

The 2021 Rhône wines are lauded for their early accessibility and excellent balance. With a score of 94, it is a high-quality vintage that produces elegant and drinkable wines.
Our quests for new wines have often led us to unique locations. For a timeless red wine from France, we decided to travel to the Luberon. There, we arrived at Château Val Joanis, a winery situated on the border between the Rhône and Provence. Although officially part of the Rhône, you can see many influences from Provence. However, we do agree on one thing: the towering quality of this Val Jo Le Rouge!

A red wine from France from Val Joanis

Château Val Joanis is a true talent. Under impressive conditions, they create wines that surpass both the Rhône and Provence. They are unique. This is largely due to the top-quality grapes used. This red wine is made with Marselan and Syrah grapes. Two extremes, yet a resounding success when combined. They know exactly how to bring out the best in each other, thanks in part to the talented winemaker at Château Val Joanis. By perfectly blending the grapes, the result is a red wine that stands out for its accessibility and friendliness.

What does Val Jo Le Rouge wine taste like?

Picture it. Late afternoon on a warm summer day. The last rays of sunshine graze your face as you sit with friends in the backyard. A bright idea strikes: fire up the barbecue. That's when you pull out a bottle of Val Jo Le Rouge. The flavor is profound, yet never heavy or overpowering. It pairs perfectly with a piece of meat, perhaps from the barbecue, on a warm day. You'll recognize distinct aromas of fragrant blackcurrant, plums, and hints of bay leaf and thyme. Fruity, yet with a light bite. That's the essence of Val Jo Le Rouge.
