Cannonau de Sardegna, produced by the Sardinian winery Sa Raja, is the red wine that perfectly symbolizes the region. This wine has contributed to the region's fame and its dedication to enthusiasts. The high quality of the grapes, delicate and precise vinification, and the decision not to use oak during aging are the ingredients of a wine with a pure and fragrant profile.

The Cannonau vines of Sa Raja

The red Cannonau is produced by a winery that has successfully interpreted Sardinia's indigenous vines to create freshness and elegance. Sa Raja manages vineyards in various parts of Sardinia and produces bottles with a strong territorial character. The Cannonau vineyards are located in Romangia, the northwestern part of Sardinia, overlooking the wide Gulf of Asinara. The vines have an average age of 20 years and are planted at an altitude of 90 meters above sea level, on sandy soils resting on marl and limestone. The grapes are harvested manually in mid-September. At the winery, the bunches are selected and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 22 to 28 degrees Celsius. Before bottling, the wine is aged for another eight months in stainless steel tanks.

Cannonau Sa Raja wine is the rendition of Sardinia's most famous and beloved red wine. It's made in a version that enhances the Mediterranean character of this windy, yet above all, ideal wine region. In the glass, Cannonau emerges ruby-red with light violet reflections. The nose offers an exuberant fruity bouquet with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, ripe cherries, plums, hints of berry jam, wild shrubs, and herbs. The palate is equally fragrant, rich, and full-bodied with soft tannins. The fruity character also comes through beautifully in the palate. The finish is harmonious, delightfully fresh, and savory.
