Vintage Report

The 2023 vintage for Tuscany received a score of 91 points and is rated as excellent. The wines from this year are early drinking and very approachable.
This Rosso di Montepulciano from Poliziano boasts such class and softness. Made entirely from sunny Sangiovese grapes, it's rich in flavor. The aroma offers a broad bouquet of plums, leather, and a hint of berry. The palate is juicy with plenty of red fruit, good concentration, and lovely acidity.

A revolutionary change for Poliziano winery

The Poliziano winery has been a household name in Tuscany for years. The current owner of Poliziano is Frederico Carletti. He is responsible for a revolutionary change. He has transformed Poliziano into a true winery, producing and bottling its own wines. After studying to become an oenologist and gaining extensive experience through internships, it was time to fulfill his childhood dream. Since joining the company in 1981, he has rapidly risen to prominence. He championed the planting of new grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as the creation of new wines such as Le Stanze, Elegia, and a Riserva from distinctive vineyards, like Vigna Asinone. With these flagship wines, Carletti has captured the hearts of many wine lovers and won numerous awards.

Six months of maturing for the Rosso di Montepulciano

Rosso di Montepulciano was established in 1989 as a separate DOC for declassified Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Under this designation, for example, surplus yields can be marketed. This also allows wines from lean years to be bottled as Rosso di Montalcino. The winemakers at Poliziano choose grapes from a separately demarcated vineyard for this red wine. The grapes are rigorously selected after harvest. A short fermentation in stainless steel tanks and the omission of oak aging results in a wine that is accessible and soft in character, making it suitable for drinking young. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for four to six months.
