The 2016 vintage for German red wines achieved excellent scores up to 93 points. The wines from this year are developing slowly and possess firm tannins, indicating good aging potential.

Perhaps the most beautiful winery in Germany: Weingut Knipser. We're not alone in this opinion; this winery has already won numerous awards. It's located in Laumersheim, a village south of Frankfurt in the Palatinate wine region. Knipser's vision is clear: to produce quality wines with a German twist. For example, they frequently use indigenous grape varieties, particularly those found in the Palatinate. However, Weingut Knipser doesn't shy away from using international varieties.

The vineyards of Knipser

After 70 years of experience, Weingut Knipser has already amassed a large number of vineyards. Currently, they own approximately 75 hectares in the towns of Laumerheim, Großkarlbach, and Dirmstein. The vineyards are situated in some of the most beautiful locations, not only in the Palatinate wine region, but perhaps even in all of Germany. With almost 2,000 hours of sunshine per year, this region is one of the sunniest in Germany. Ideal for viticulture.

The aroma and taste of Knipser Cuvee Gaudenz

Knipser Cuvée Gaudenz perfectly embodies Weingut Knipser's vision. It's an excellent blend of the international all-rounder Cabernet Sauvignon and the local Dornfelder. Furthermore, like all Knipser wines, the yield is very low. By limiting the yield, the quality is higher. This is why Knipser can compete with large wineries that produce quality wines. Knipser Cuvée Gaudenz has refined aromas somewhat reminiscent of Pinot Noir. Abundant red and black fruit pleasantly interspersed with notes of herbs and strawberries. The hint of pepper reveals a light oak aging of only one year, giving Knipser Cuvée Gaudenz that little something extra. The palate is characterized by abundant blackcurrant and red fruit. A successful wine from a renowned winery.
