The 2022 vintage in Argentina received an excellent rating of 95 points from Robert Parker. The wines are of extraordinary quality, but currently still very youthful and tannic, meaning they need some time to reach their optimal drinking window.

Good, Better, Best! That's how you can best describe the Terrazas wine series. The Altos del Plata series is excellent. The Los Andes series is better, and this Terrazas de los Andes Grand Malbec is the best! The idea that only the best is good enough for Terrazas stems from the founder and owner of this magnificent winery. Moët & Chandon founded this now-famous Argentinian winery in 1959. They combined French winemaking expertise with the emerging Argentinian wine industry. It proved to be a bull's-eye! Just as we've come to expect with Champagnes, the Argentinian winemakers are also striving for gold.

The old vineyard of Terrazas de los Andes Grand Malbec

The grapes for this Terrazas de los Andes Grand Malbec come from fourteen different vineyards, each with its own distinct terroir. This special Terrazas wine is only released in exceptionally good vintages and is therefore always of exceptional quality. The Malbec grapes grow on old vines in the most coveted plots of land in Mendoza. The terroir for the grapes here is truly perfect. This beautiful vineyard is located at an altitude of 1,067 meters above sea level, thus enjoying all the perfect influences of the climate. The harvest for this Terrazas gem is done entirely by hand. Both in the vineyards and just before pressing, a strict selection takes place to determine which grapes are suitable for this magnificent red wine. After vinification, this Terrazas Grand Malbec is aged for 14 to 16 months in new French oak barrels with regular transfers. This transfer ensures that the wine becomes clear without filtration. After bottling, this red wine returns to the Terrazas cellars for 18 months of beautiful bottle aging. After this period, it's time to celebrate; the wine is ready!

Pouring this exceptional wine, we were immediately captivated by its deep, dark red color, revealing an almost black core. The aroma of this Grand Malbec from Terrazas is complex and characteristic of Malbec. Rich aromas of black fruit, spices, dried apricots, and a hint of chocolate and vanilla tantalize many senses. The taste is remarkable, complex, and truly Delicious with a capital "H"! What a joy to taste this beautiful red wine! Delightful nuances of ripe black fruit dance across the palate with hints of spice, cocoa, vanilla, and a light peppery note. This phenomenal red wine pairs perfectly with red meat and aged cheeses. Sharing this wine with several people is a bit more challenging!
