Vintage Report
The 2020 vintage in Argentina was of excellent quality with a score of 96 points. The wines from this year are currently still powerful and youthful with significant aging potential.
The Ultra series from Kaiken Estate is a dream come true for the winery's winemaking team. This collection showcases their experience and expertise in crafting high-quality wines on both sides of the Andes. The wines are richly structured, wonderfully complex, and boast firm yet supple tannins that blend beautifully. This Cabernet Sauvignon, for example, boasts abundant fruity aromas and ripe tannins on the palate.
The quality of Kaiken Estate
One of Chile's most famous winemakers, Aurelio Montes, decided to establish Kaiken Estate in 2002. The name refers to a goose species native to Patagonia, which annually migrates across the Andes Mountains from Chile to Argentina. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes come from the Vistalba vineyard. This vineyard is located south of Mendoza at 1,050 meters above sea level. Days are warm with low humidity, while nights can be quite cold. The wines from this vineyard are often complex and deep, with sweet tannins. Around March and April, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are harvested by hand and stem-selected in the winery. This is followed by a seven-day preferential maceration in concrete tanks. Maceration lasts for 20 days, after which malolactic fermentation takes place in concrete tanks. Finally, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. The wine is then bottled and matured for another six months before release. The spicy aromas of Kaiken Ultra Cabernet Sauvignon
The Kaiken Ultra Cabernet Sauvignon emerges with a ruby red color. The aroma is spicy with pepper, red apple, and menthol. These aromas are complemented by notes of leather, honey, sesame, and sweet paprika. The palate is powerful, with abundant fruit and ripe tannins. The acidity is refined and beautifully balances the whole. The finish is very long, with spice and red berries.Product details
