Vintage Report
The 2021 vintage in Argentina is rated 92 points by Robert Parker, indicating excellent quality. Despite this high score, the vintage is described as inconsistent for the entire region.
If Argentina is proud of anything, it's their Malbec. That's why Kaiken decided to take on a new challenge. The Andes Mountains, just a stone's throw from which Kaiken Wines is located, provided the inspiration to search for the true Andean Malbec. During this search, they discovered three perfect microterroirs, resulting in fantastic wines. One such wine is this Aventura Chacayes Sur, a fresh and floral wine with superb structure.
The ideal location for Kaiken Aventura Chacayes Norte
The Malbec grapes for this wine come from Los Chacayes, as the name suggests. The vineyards are situated on the beautiful slopes of Arroyo Grande at an altitude of 1250 meters above sea level. Thanks to ancient river deposits, the soil consists of sand, loam, and calcareous stones. Summers can be very hot, but thanks to the location, it cools considerably at night. This allows the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, without losing their freshness. The Malbec grapes are harvested entirely by hand at peak ripeness. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are hand-selected for quality. A four-day preferential fermentation at a controlled temperature follows. Fermentation then takes place in concrete tanks for seven days. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally, also in concrete tanks. Finally, the wine is aged in these same concrete tanks for 12 months. The wine then ages in the bottle for another six months before release.Enjoy the balanced Kaiken Aventura Chacayes Norte
When poured, a deep red wine with violet hues appears in the glass. The wine offers aromas of ripe plums, black pepper, and fresh oregano. Floral notes also emerge. Velvety tannins on the palate, pleasantly balanced by the low acidity. Some fruity notes also emerge on the palate. A beautiful wine with impressive structure. This wine pairs perfectly with meat dishes.Product details
