The 2020 vintage in Northern Italy was excellent, scoring a top 97 points for the region. The wines show an impressive structure and great potential for further aging.
Ca del Bosco Curtefranca Corte del Lupo is a beautiful blend of 38 percent Merlot, 33 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 22 percent Cabernet Franc, and 7 percent Carmenere. This blend creates a red wine that is highly versatile, offering a perfect balance between fullness and softness.
A traditional red grape blend from Ca' del Bosco
The vineyards are located in the municipality of Cazzago San Martino and Passirano. And yes, just like the Chardonnay wines, this is also almost a French Bordeaux. With this wine, Ca' del Bosco aims to rediscover and restore a traditional red grape blend from the region, favoring Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Carmenère over Cabernet Sauvignon. A journey into the past, elevating the personality and fruitiness of Merlot, the elegance of Cabernet Franc, and the roundness of Carmenère. Cabernet Sauvignon provides the much-needed backbone and gives the wine longevity. Two years are needed to achieve the right balance of harmony and balance on the palate. The grapes are all harvested by hand across eight different vineyards. They are transported in small crates to the cellar. Only the finest bunches are harvested during selection. Finally, the wine is drained while still warm and placed in small oak barrels—only after malolactic fermentation—in the middle of winter. The "Corte del Lupo Rosso" is now being produced and will age for approximately 21 months, followed by gravity bottling, eliminating pumping that introduces unwanted oxygen.The scent and taste of Corte del Lupo Red
The result is stunning. The nose reveals refined aromas of oak and vanilla, interspersed with notes of black cherry, berries, and a hint of clove. On the palate, this wine is soft yet certainly full-bodied and slightly spicy. Pleasant nuances of ripe cherries, plums, anise, and some light spice. The tannins are subtly present on the finish.
