Valenciso Laderas de Cabama is a Crianza aged in oak for twelve months. The grapes come from thirty-year-old vines, considerably younger than those that nourish the estate's Valensico Reserva. This delicious red wine is made from 100 percent Tempranillo grapes, giving it true Spanish character. Valenciso has once again released a wine that perfectly balances fruit and structure, making it ideal for drinking now.

A premium Tempranillo from Valenciso

The production is handled by the Valenciso estate. The name is a combination of the names of the founders, Valentin and Enciso. They have over 33 years of experience and background in Rioja. The winery, founded in 1998, is located in Ollauri, just four kilometers from Haro in the heart of Rioja Alta. They focus on producing premium, unique, and elegant Tempranillos. Only the finest grapes are used, from mature, low-yielding vineyards. Sourced from a single Cabama vineyard on the clay-limestone soils of Ollauri (Rioja Alta), this wine was initially commissioned by Valenciso's American importer, who was looking for an entry-level cuvée to complement the estate's only Reserva red. It is naturally fermented, vinified in concrete vats, and aged for just twelve months in low-toasted French and Russian oak.

This Laderas de Cabama Rioja is a deep red in the glass with a delicate brown glow. It's an elegant, fragrant Rioja that's hard to resist. This red wine earned a remarkable 92 points from James Suckling after impressing the tasting panel. It has savory aromas of blueberries, pomegranate, dried leaves, and exotic herbs. The palate is wonderfully full-bodied with soft tannins and beautiful nuances of spices, black fruit, anise, and vanilla. The finish is intense and full. A red wine to savor.
