The 2024 harvest benefited from a cool, high-altitude climate, resulting in a crisp and mineral wine. Manual night harvesting ensured optimal preservation of aromatic quality and freshness.

Besides the top wines from Cruz de Castillo in the Rioja and Utiel Requena, the winery also has a unique vineyard in Rueda. There, they produce one of the region's most famous wines: Luna Verde Rueda Verdejo. Winemaker Franseco Jr. is currently at the helm of the family winery. He learned the trade from his father and still produces beautiful, classic wines with a modern touch. All Cruz de Castillo wines are acclaimed in Spain, thanks to their excellent price-quality ratio, which is why most of them are consumed there. The arrival of this white Luna Verde Rueda Verdejo a few years ago completed the range. The most famous wine region for Spanish white wine is, of course, Rueda.

Luna Verde's high-altitude vineyard

The Verdejo grapes grow in a very high-altitude vineyard, 600 to 800 meters above sea level. Here, the ancient vines enjoy the perfect climate for Verdejo grapes. The sun provides ample warmth, while the bunches also receive sufficient cooling. This coolness comes from the ocean breeze that constantly blows through the vineyards in Rueda. This allows the bunches to retain their freshness, resulting in a soft and mineral-rich harvest.

The moon on the label of the Luna Verde Rueda Verdejo

The label depicts the moon, and that has a significant influence on this white Luna Verde Rueda Verdejo wine. As soon as all the bunches are ripe, they are harvested by hand in the light of the moon. Harvesting the Verdejo grapes begins in the middle of the night to guarantee quality and freshness. Well, that's perfectly fine; when pouring this Luna Verde Rueda Verdejo, we see a beautiful, clear color with a green sheen. It smells fantastic from the glass! Beautiful notes of green apples, passion fruit, and mint leaves make everything very appealing. The palate is pure indulgence, with beautiful ripe flavors of citrus fruit, accompanied by hints of green apples and pears. Later, as this white wine swirls in the mouth, impressions of fennel, grapefruit, and a touch of green pepper also emerge. The finish is fresh and rich, which completes the whole experience of this white wine.
