This Spanish red is perfectly balanced. The Tempranillo grapes are grown in the Fina Carbonera vineyard, the highest vineyard in the Rioja region. This wine also owes its name to this altitude. This altitude allows the grapes to mature for a long time, resulting in a more intense flavor and a lovely freshness. Everything in this wine is beautifully balanced and harmonious. The grape offerings of El Coto de Rioja
El Coto is a relatively young company, founded in 1970. Since then, this winery has grown into a successful enterprise. Located in Oyon, north of Logroñe, it is an impressive winery due to its scale and efficiency, yet combines this with centuries-old traditions. They have over 700 hectares of their own vineyards spread across seven different locations. This allows them to obtain an optimal diversity of grapes. Every detail is meticulously managed, ensuring the highest possible quality grapes are produced under all conditions. El Coto uses 72,000 oak barrels for the vinification process. The estate's Tempranillo grapes are harvested by hand and transported to the winery. A gentle pressing follows, followed by alcoholic fermentation. The goal is to extract the aromatic characteristics of the grape variety. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels, striving for perfectly integrated tannins. It then matures for another nine months in new American and French oak barrels. This Tempranillo glows an intense ruby red in the glass. Its delightful aroma is immediately released. It tempts you to take a sip and lingers beautifully and subtly throughout the drink. The flavor is truly perfectly balanced. Beautiful red fruit and cherry flavors, along with a hint of chocolate.
