The crown jewel from the wine cellars of beautiful Caliterra. The pride of Chile, perfectly crafted by talented winemakers, has become Caliterra Tributo Carmenere. The name Caliterra is a corruption of "La Calidad de la Tierra," literally meaning "quality of the earth." This is precisely what Caliterra stands for: examining the factors of a vineyard and then planting the most suitable grape. Furthermore, since 2004, Caliterra has been making wines exclusively from grapes grown in its own vineyards, including the grapes for Caliterra Tributo Carmenere, which are grown in Valle de Colchagua, Caliterra's home base. This wine region, known for its sublime wines, is located approximately 130 kilometers south of Santiago.
Carmenere, Chile's national pride
Carmenere is originally a grape from France, specifically Bordeaux. However, this grape was completely wiped out by phylloxera. From the late 19th century onwards, the grape was planted sparsely in Chile, where Carmenere thrived. Today, the vast majority of Carmenere is planted in the vast Chilean landscape. Carmenere has a low yield per hectare, but this all benefits its quality. In recent years, a growing number of top wines have been produced from Carmenere. When we first tasted this wine, we were speechless. Caliterra Tributo Carmenere offered us astronomically high quality, and we immediately became big fans. Perfect in aroma, excellent in flavor. Our tasting notes were spot on. The aroma is broad, complex, and profound. Spices, black pepper, licorice, and cloves, but also hints of blackberry and fig. The palate is full and robust, yet remains velvety smooth. Flavors of dark chocolate and tobacco reveal the wine's 12-month oak aging. The rounded character of Caliterra Tributo Carmenere, combined with its pleasant freshness, makes for a successful red wine.Product details
