For fine wines, Winzer Krems is the place to be. In the picturesque village of Krems in eastern Austria, 70 kilometers west of Vienna, they produce highly accessible, fresh wines. The vineyards are terraced and therefore not easily accessible, so harvesting is primarily done by hand. This, along with plenty of sunshine and the occasional cool breeze at night, also contributes to the quality.

The largest producer in Austria

It is the largest producer of quality wines in Austria, clearly demonstrating that "great" in winemaking doesn't necessarily mean "worse." The company is jointly owned by 962 winemakers who cultivate 990 hectares of vines. All harvests are done by hand. The quality of the products produced in the cooperative is confirmed by the privilege of supplying them—for twelve years!—to the Vienna State Opera Ball. The majority of the production is traditionally based on Gruner Veltliner and Riesling. Winzer Krems produces wines from the highest Sommelier line, with special attention to gastronomy. The result is the best Riesling of the Salon 15-Pfaffenberg 2013 competition.

What do we eat at Winzer Krems Classic Blauer Zweigelt?

Blauer Zweigelt is the grape variety that characterizes Austrian wines. Even winemaker Krems Blauer Zweigelt from the Classic series demonstrates that high quality can be found at the entry level. The wine has a bright ruby red color. It is full and round on the palate. The bouquet is fruity and delightfully mild and velvety. The finish is slightly acidic. Krems Blauer Zweigelt Classic winemaker has excellent aging potential and can still be enjoyed in five years. Pair the wine with game dishes or a ham platter. A small tip: you'll enjoy it to the fullest if you keep it slightly cool at 14 degrees Celsius.
