Aulico Vermentino Terre Siciliane is produced by one of Italy's largest cooperatives, Cantine Ermes. A cooperative involves several local winegrowers working closely together to market wine under a common name. Cantine Ermes was founded in July 1998. At the time, it consisted of just nine winegrowers located in western Sicily. Today, Cantine Ermes is much larger and boasts astronomical production figures. 2,373 members represent a whopping 12,648 hectares of vineyards. Total production now totals 11.5 million bottles per year, making Aulico a truly large winery.
Many wine drinkers remember Vermentino from its early days, when it was a star in the production of so-called mass wines. Since then, many winemakers have invested in this grape, and it can now produce true gems, including this Aulico Vermentino Terre Siciliane. Brace yourself for impressive aromas and flavors. Green apple, fresh pear, and citrus peel make up the highlights. A close palate will be surprised by refreshing grapefruit and tangy lime. A perfect aperitif that brightens many a summer day.
