- Altitude: The plots for Joséphine are located at an altitude of 250 m. Within the appellation, a large part of the vineyards are between 200 and 450 m, which contributes to the fresh profile of the wines.
- Soil: The wine comes from clay-limestone soils. This fits nicely with the broader soil profile of the Luberon, where clay and limestone form an important basis for rosé with tension and finesse.
- Exposure: The vineyards have a South and Southeast exposure. This gives the grapes enough sun for ripeness, while the altitude and temperature differences keep the wine fresh.

Château Val Joanis is located in the Luberon, a short distance from Aix-en-Provence, but in terms of origin, it operates entirely within the Rhône. The estate comprises 400 hectares of protected nature and 100 hectares of vineyards on clay-limestone soils, allowing the house to produce wines that combine the sunniness of the south with remarkable freshness. The château's gardens also play a recognizable role, with terraces sheltered from the mistral and in keeping with the historical character of the estate.
