The grapes for this exquisite wine come from the Ygay Estate, a vast 300-hectare estate in the southern part of Rioja Alta. The estate, ranging in altitude from 320 to 485 meters above sea level, offers an ideal climate for growing high-quality grapes. This geographical diversity allows Marqués de Murrieta to produce wines of diverse styles and flavors, all characterized by their high quality and unique character. Only the finest Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano grapes, grown under the sun-drenched skies and on the rich, chalky soils of Rioja Alta, are selected for this emblematic wine. The grape varieties are vinified separately, fermenting in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. This process, which takes 8 to 12 days, includes regular pumping over to ensure optimal interaction between the juice and the skins. Finally, the wine matures for 27 months in 225-litre American oak barrels ( barriques ), which contributes to the complexity and depth of its flavour.
