After the huge success of St. Kilian's sweet white wines, the winery now offers a tantalizing Glühwein. It was their grandmother who once had the best recipe in the region. St. Kilian didn't want to leave it lying around, and after much searching, they found the finest red grape varieties to make their delicate Glühwein. The winery, located in Thuringia, cultivates several red grape varieties for this red Glühwein. According to St. Kilian's winemaker, it's always a quest for the perfect blend of nature, modern techniques, and expert craftsmanship. But over the years, this unique winery has built a strong reputation, producing the finest wines from regions such as Rheinhessen every year.

The recipe for St. Kilian mulled wine

The old vineyards, nestled in the heart of Rheinhessen, provide the winemaker with a magnificent harvest. The unique climate for the red grape varieties results in a full and tender harvest. When the harvest is ripe, the bunches are gathered early in the morning and transported to St. Kilian. Here, the bunches are gently pressed and the red wine is made. Once the red wine is ready, Grandma's recipe book is dug out. Spices such as cod, cloves, star anise, and citrus are added to the wine. This is then aged in a barrel, releasing all its beautiful flavors and aromas. Some of the spices added to this mulled wine are secret! But what we do know is that this St. Kilian mulled wine is truly delicious.
